2007 Prince Gallitzin Cross Award Recipient

Sister Benedict Joseph Watters is director of campus ministry at Mount Aloysius College, and next year will mark 60 years of service as a Religious Sister of Mercy.

In nominating Sister Benedict Joseph, college president Mercy Sister Mary Ann Dillon and college chaplain Father John J. Slovikovski explained “Sister Benedict Joseph is a very humble woman who did serve in an administrative capacity for her community; however, her desire to serve the people of God ‘on the front lines’ prevented her advancement as well, with no regrets on her part.  She is reluctant to accept any recognition for her ministry and may well shy away from this Award.  Nonetheless, we strongly encourage such recognition as the witness of her life is, by every measure, an incarnation of the legacy of Prince Gallitzin and an example for hundreds of people.”
